Reading Festival 2013 & Station North Interchange

26-08-13

This years festival was the first able to take advantage of the new Reading Station North interchange, after Reading Buses' special service 98 was relegated to the old bus station last year. Generic liveried Scania OmniDekkas were in charge of running the 98, with almost all examples noted in use at various points during the week.

Incidentally, 825 was the first light pink OmniDekka repainted into silver and was the only one to retain its original layout with beige above the top deck rear windows and silver swoop behind the advert frame (which wasn't present on the original pink livery).

Normal Bank Holiday services have been gradually improved in recent years, with a number of unusual inter-workings to achieve the desired frequencies. The current timetables interwork half of the 11 service with routes 23 and 24 much as it was when the 24 ran through to Coley Park. This leads to generic OmniCity double deckers appearing on these routes throughout the day. The other half of the 11 is operated by a Wright Streetlite shared with route 29.

The 98 ran via Sainsbury's at certain times, whilst Sainsbury's were also running a free shuttle bus on 22nd-25th which was operated by Xelabus.
