Closure of Gun Street

Gun Street was closed on 5th January for emergency sewer repair work, necessitating a number of diversions around the Town Centre. Routes 1, 2/2A, 15, 16, 18, 26, 28, 33 and 33A were diverted from Friar Street along Station Hill to temporary stops in Cheapside, whilst routes 17 and 500 were diverted from Kings Road via the IDR and Castle Street to St Mary's Butts and Routes 9, 19, 20, 21 and 22 were diverted via Bridge Street instead of London Road. The road reopened at 1100 today, and services returned to normal.
822 emerging from Cheapside on 15th, OmniDekkas 822-4 now becoming regulars on the 1 until later in the year.
At the same time the next phase of Town Centre preparation works for the new Station have commenced with some minor modifications being made in Forbury Road outside the former Great Western Hotel. This comes in advance of Station Road being closed for full reconstruction (similar to West Street) from 7th February.
